Chicago P.D.: A New Romantic Twist for Voight?
Chicago P.D. fans have seen a lot of drama over the past 12 seasons, but one thing that has remained consistent is the stoic nature of Sgt. Hank Voight, played by Jason Beghe. Known for his tough exterior and commitment to his work, Voight has rarely dabbled in romance—until now.
In the latest episode, Season 12, Episode 4, titled “The After,” things take a surprising turn. ASA Nina Chapman, portrayed by Sara Bues, confesses her feelings for Voight, revealing a chemistry that’s been building over time. Throughout the episode, Chapman steps up as Voight’s partner on a sensitive case involving a serial rapist. This case hits close to home for Voight, as it ties back to a cold case from 15 years ago, right after his wife, Camille, passed away.
In a pivotal moment, Chapman goes above and beyond by falsifying a statement from a confidential informant to secure a crucial search warrant. After her heartfelt confession, she tells Voight, “We don’t ever have to mention it again, and I don’t expect a damn thing from you. But let me be clear, if I want to care about you… then I will.” Her words leave Voight speechless, and it’s clear this revelation has caught him off guard.
Beghe, in an interview with NBC Insider, reflects on Voight’s reaction, stating, “I just think it kinda shocked him. It’s a lot. And it’s a compliment… he respects women, and he always has, so it’s kinda tricky.”
What’s Next for Voight and Chapman? – As for what lies ahead for Voight and Chapman, Beghe is uncertain but optimistic. He prefers to stay in the moment rather than speculate about the future. “If we end up kissing, it’ll be because it’s an honest moment,” he shares.
Voight, despite his complex persona, is quite straightforward when it comes to feelings, according to Beghe. “He’s a human being, and he’s observant… I think that he comes off as super complicated because he’s so damn simple.”
For now, fans will have to wait and see how this potential romance develops, especially with Chapman’s upcoming two-month assignment in Denver with the FBI. Could this be the start of something new for Voight? Only time will tell!
As we look forward to more episodes, one thing’s for sure: the dynamics in the Chicago P.D. universe are evolving, and we’re here for it!
