‘NCIS’ Spinoff Featuring Tony & Ziva Officially Named
Paramount has officially named its upcoming Tony & Ziva “NCIS” spinoff. During a Zoom call, stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo revealed the series’ title: “NCIS: Tony & Ziva.”
Previously considered titles such as “NCIS: Europe” and “NCIS: Trust No One” were set aside in favor of a title that directly highlights the show’s focus. “It makes it really easy because the fans will know exactly what the show is about. It’s Tony and Ziva in Europe,” explained de Pablo.
The series, ordered for 10 episodes, will capture the adventures of Tony (played by Weatherly) and Ziva (played by de Pablo) as they navigate challenges across Europe. The production is set to start this summer in Budapest, marking it the second international venture for the NCIS franchise, following “NCIS: Sydney.”
“NCIS: Tony & Ziva” picks up with the characters after significant developments in the original NCIS series. Following the presumed death of Ziva, Tony left the NCIS team to care for their daughter, Tali. The narrative took a twist when Ziva was found alive, allowing her one last mission with NCIS before reuniting with Tony and Tali in Paris.
In the new series, Tony and Ziva’s life takes a turn when Tony’s security business becomes a target, forcing them to flee across Europe. They strive to uncover who is behind the attacks and must relearn to trust one another in their quest for a somewhat unconventional family life.
Cote de Pablo anticipates the show will blend intrigue and romance against a European backdrop, bringing complex situations and a touch of love into the mix.
The project is a collaborative effort with John McNamara serving as writer and showrunner. Executive producers include Weatherly, de Pablo, McNamara, Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, and Shelley Meals. The series will be distributed globally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
