Nathan Fillion Teases Fans with Behind-the-Scenes Look at The Rookie Season 7
Nathan Fillion, beloved star of The Rookie, recently shared an exciting glimpse from the set of the show’s upcoming seventh season. Taking to Instagram, the actor revealed that he’s been filming scenes in Los Angeles, showcasing his character, John Nolan, in civilian attire aboard a bus. Known for his playful humor, Nathan, 53, entertained fans between takes, even joking about a newspaper headline that read, “Rookie shows great skill.” He quipped in the caption, “Who am I to argue? #therookieabc.”
Fans were quick to respond, filling the comments with enthusiasm. One fan expressed, “With all the bad news on the TV and in newspapers, this is the best news I’ve seen in a very long time!” Another chimed in, calling The Rookie “literally the best show out there,” while a third complimented Nathan, saying, “Skill, charm, and unofficial King of the Dad Jokes, @nathanfillion, you are the whole package! Can’t wait for Season 7 to begin!”
The Rookie is set to return in January 2025, with 18 new episodes airing weekly. A teaser trailer has already been released, introducing exciting new characters Seth and Miles, played by Patrick Keleher and Deric Augustine. Seth is described as the “ideal police officer” who struggles with the quick, decisive actions the job demands. Meanwhile, Miles, a Texas transfer, is a “rookie” despite having two years of experience on the force.
While a detailed synopsis for Season 7 is still under wraps, fans can expect to see the return of some villains from Season 6, particularly following the dramatic events of Oscar’s prison break and Jason’s reappearance in LA. Showrunner Alexi Hawley hinted at this, noting, “They will definitely resurface at different times.” He also mentioned that Jenna Dewan, who plays Bailey, may be absent for the first few episodes due to her real-life pregnancy.
Additionally, Eric Winter, who portrays Tim Bradford, teased intriguing developments in his character’s relationship with Lucy Chen. “Tim and Lucy will continue to learn how to navigate their feelings while being on the job,” he explained. “We’ll see them pick up in a place where they care about each other but have to figure out how to balance their personal feelings with their professional responsibilities.”
Winter also hinted at the return of Tim as a training officer, saying, “People liked Metro Tim, but I think they really enjoy training officer Tim, so we’ll get him back out in the field.”
With all these updates, excitement for The Rookie Season 7 is palpable, and fans are counting down the days until they can dive back into the world of LAPD rookies.
