S.W.A.T.’ Star Shemar Moore Discusses Potential Return to ‘The Young and the Restless’
Could Shemar Moore be returning to one of his old TV haunts? The actor has shared his thoughts, and soap opera fans should take note.
As “S.W.A.T.” wrapped up its seventh season and CBS announced a surprise renewal for Season 8, Shemar Moore discussed his future in acting. In an interview with TVInsider published on April 10, he expressed his feelings about potentially reprising his role as Malcolm Winters on “The Young and the Restless” (the series that launched his career in 1994). He explained why he would consider returning to Genoa City, given how his time on the show led to roles on “Criminal Minds” and “S.W.A.T.”
“If ‘The Young and the Restless’ called me today, I would go,” he revealed. “Because you never forget where you came from. It sounds cliche and maybe cheesy, but it’s also true.”
Fans of “The Young and the Restless” will remember Shemar’s debut on the soap opera in 1994, where he became one of the show’s most well-known actors. He played Malcolm Winters from 1994 until 2002, when he left to star in the WB series “Birds of Prey.” He returned for various stints on the show, with his most recent appearance coinciding with the show’s 50th anniversary in May 2023.
If Shemar does return as Malcolm for a guest spot, could fans see him back in a full-time capacity? As he told the outlet, viewers shouldn’t expect that to happen.
