‘The Rookie’ Renewed for Season 7 at ABC
“ABC has renewed ‘The Rookie’ for Season 7, as reported by Variety.
Season 6 of the cop drama, which premiered on February 20, was delayed from its usual fall start due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. According to ABC, the premiere attracted 11.9 million viewers across all platforms in the Live+35 ratings, marking its highest viewership since 2018. Additionally, it achieved a 2.9 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Nathan Fillion stars as John Nolan, the LAPD’s oldest rookie, with a supporting cast that includes Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, Tru Valentino, and Lisseth Chavez.
Created and executive produced by Alexi Hawley, the show also sees Fillion serving as executive producer alongside Mark Gordon, Michelle Chapman, Brynn Malone, Bill Norcross, and Jon Steinberg. Lionsgate Television, having acquired the show following its late 2023 acquisition of eOne, leads production and international distribution, with ABC Signature co-producing.
Season 6 continues John Nolan’s journey, now settled into his career and life with Bailey (Dewan). Despite their progress, Nolan and his team must confront the repercussions of recent events before moving forward.
With this renewal, ABC has confirmed most of its scripted lineup for the 2024-2025 season. It was also recently announced that ‘The Good Doctor’ and ‘Station 19’ would conclude after their current seasons. Pending renewals include ‘The Conners’ and ‘Not Dead Yet.’ ABC is also preparing to launch ‘High Potential’ with Kaitlin Olson, delayed from last year due to the strikes, and ‘Dr. Odyssey,’ a new series from Ryan Murphy.”
